Another Pink and Grey Dress – This Time for Annie

25 Mar

Bonsoir, mes amies!

Here is Annie showing off her new dress – simple, but cute (and oh look at the colours – are you spotting a trend yet?)

P1190235small

P1190243small

This lovely little dress is based on a pattern by Odile of Passion Poupees (adapted quite a bit), but the colour scheme is inspired by this lovely dress by Sylvie at PoupeesdeSyl.

P1190239small

The yarn used is Sirdar Snuggly 4 ply shade 195 (Pale Grey), Hayfield Bonus 4 ply shade 992 (Pink) and the lovely pale pink is Patons Fairytale 4 ply shade 4308 (Sugar Pink).

P1190240small

Annie looks very sweet and innocent in this dress.

P1190244small

I used a size 3 mm crochet hook.

I love Annie’s gorgeous hair.

It’s Annie’s Turn – Lots of Blue

7 Feb

Bonsoir, mes amies!

Here is a fabulous pattern by Odile as adapted by Vero. I love it! Annie looks great in this outfit. Thank you to both ladies.

P1180943small

P1180944small

The yarns used are: for the darker blue – Stylecraft Life 4 ply shade 2308 (Cascade) and for the paler blue an old yarn from my stash that I have had for years – Hayfield Baby Bonus 4 ply shade 854 (Baby Blue).

P1180947small

I used a size 3mm crochet hook.

P1180950small

The shoes are adapted from another pattern by Odile!

P1180951small

I think Annie looks really nice today.

Happy New Year! – Annie’s Hogmanay Party Outfit

2 Jan

Bonjour et bonne année, mes amies!

Here is Annie’s party outfit for the Hogmanay party.

P1180838small

P1180827small

This really cute pattern comes courtesy of Odile at Passion Poupees. The only changes I made were to use a size 3.5 mm hook, lengthen the skirt a bit and, instead of sleeves, I added a little bit of the picot border.

P1180832small

P1180835small

This lovely yarn was an impulse buy at my local yarn shop. It is Rico Creative Reflection shade 004 (Pastel) and changes through many colours, but with quite a long repeat. I love how this outfit has turned out pale blue with lilac. There is a thread of silver glitter throughout.

P1180834small

P1180831small

This is a beautiful outfit that I think works well as a party outfit in this yarn.

Merry Christmas Everyone! – Jeannie’s Sparkling Gold Trim

25 Dec

Joyeux Noel, mes amies!

Merry Christmas, everyone!

Here is the last Xmas outfit for my little family of Les Cheries. Jeannie is wearing a beautiful outfit by Odile at Passion Poupees. This features a simple long sleeved dress, trimmed with some sparkly variegated yarn in shades of gold.

P1180563small

P1180555small

P1180558small

I think you will agree this is a very sophisticated look for Jeannie.

P1180570small

P1180565small

The cream yarn is Sirdar Countrystyle DK in shade 917 (cream). The contrast yarn is DMC Starlet in shade T143 (coppers/gold). Having crocheted with a thicker yarn than recommended, I found that the use of a size 3.5 mm crochet hook meant the dress was a perfect fit!

P1180564small

The Xmas party look is completed by a lovely gilet with a gorgeous flower in the middle of the back. I used a different yarn for this – Woolcraft Brushed DK in shade 02 (cream). This is a fluffy yarn which has a nice effect. I used the same gold contrast yarn for the gilet and it took me a few attempts to get this right. I used a size 3.5mm hook for the gilet too.

Christmas Eve! – Shona’s Lovely Xmas Tunic

24 Dec

Bonjour, mes amies!

Here is Shona in her lovely new dress. This is made from a pattern by Esyram (at Dans le Pupitre d’Esyram) which is designed for the Boneka dolls.

P1180527small

I have no idea what size these dolls are, but I know they are smaller than les Cheries, so I increased the needle size to 3.00 mm and hoped for the best. Surprisingly it fits very well, although as I was knitting it, I wasn’t sure if it would turn out as a dress or a tunic!

P1180534small

I think using the colours red and white give the outfit a festive air and I am very pleased with the way this dress looks.

P1180530small

P1180528small

Of course, the most obvious way to make the outfit look festive is to add a Santa hat!

P1180523small

P1180522small

Shona’s hat comes courtesy of Marie at Les Voyages de Capucine. A simple and effective pattern that creates a very cute hat.

P1180525small

I used the yarn, Stylecraft Life 4 ply, shade 2306 (Cardinal) and some old white 4 ply from my stash.

P1180524small

I think Shona looks like she is ready to join Patricia and Annie for Christmas.

Still Counting Down to Xmas – Annie Joins the Party!

23 Dec

Bonjour, mes amies!

So here is another Xmas outfit for my Les Cheries. This time it is Annie who is wearing the lovely new outfit.

P1180487small

P1180492small

This pattern comes from the Sticka Till Barbie site and is pattern number 169. I was amazed that I did not need to adjust this pattern at all for it to fit the Les Cheries dolls. All I had to do was use size 3.25mm knitting needles and double knitting yarn (DK). This has opened up a whole new world of potential patterns and I have made a very lengthy list of other patterns I would now like to make (not enough time in my days!)

P1180493small

I used the same red yarn as for Patricia’s dress yesterday – King Cole Big Value DK in shade 09 (red) and for the contrast this time I used Sirdar Snuggly Snowflake DK in shade 630 (white). This gives a lovely fuzzy effect which really suits the festive theme.

P1180496small

The dress has a nice lace pattern in the skirt and is beautifully fitted.

P1180500small

I made the same boots as yesterday, but with the new contrast yarn. I made them slightly longer this time and increased my needle size to 3.25 mm for the last 6 rows to widen it enough to fit neatly over her calves. This super pattern comes from Marie at Les Voyages de Capucine.

P1180497small

And here is Annie with Patricia in their festive outfits. Although these dolls are the same, I am convinced that Annie’s skin tone is slightly warmer as if she has a slight tan. Annie is the Camille Horse Rider doll and her fringe is very flat (from being under the riding hat!)

P1180502small

P1180503small

Here is a back view of the dolls and I hope you are impressed by their hair styles. They were both done by my daughter ‘Katie’. I think she has made a fabulous job.

P1180505small

P1180506small

And here they are enjoying their Xmas tree.

Fabulous Fairisle (3) – Patricia’s First Outfit

20 Dec

Bonjour, mes amies!

So here is the lovely Patricia in her first outfit, a little tunic top based on Sylvie’s great pattern, Abigail’s Tunic at Poupeesdesyl. This is my third version of this tutorial, and I’ve slightly adapted each one.

P1180414small

This time I have shortened it and made it into a little top to go with her jeans and shoes.

P1180423small

Once again I have used Sirdar Crofter DK in yet another shade – 64 (Wild Thyme) and size 3.00 mm knitting needles.

P1180418small

P1180417small

I think Patricia looks really cute in her new top.

P1180420small

Here she is with Jeannie and Annie in their original matching dresses based on Sylvie’s fabulous pattern.

P1180426small

The little girls are making Patricia feel very welcome!

Annie’s Burnt Amber Outfit – Lovely Autumn Colours

16 Dec

Bonjour, mes amies!

Yes, yes, I realise it’s winter now, not autumn. I guess I am just in denial!

P1180355small

Here is Annie wearing her beautiful new dress.

P1180350small

This dress turned out a little darker than I thought it would, as the yarn goes through several colour changes and, unfortunately, I chose to start with a section that is virtually black.

P1180360small

However, the pattern is beautiful and comes courtesy of Odile at Passion Poupees (comme d’habitude!). This is one of Odile’s outfits for her Little Darling and it fits my Les Cheries, Annie, no problem.

P1180356small

The only changes I made were to use a size 3.5 mm crochet hook, one size up from Odile’s recommended (because I crochet tightly); and to lengthen the dress slightly. I also doubled the number of stitches on the last row before the frill so that the frill has turned out fuller.

P1180351small

The yarn I used was DROPS Delight shade 13 (red/orange/grey). This yarn is equivalent to 4 ply.

P1180361small

This is a lovely little girl look, but with grown up colours.

P1180364small

I think Annie looks lovely.

Annie in Magenta – A Sophisticated Tunic and Skirt

28 Nov

Bonjour, mes Amies!

Finally Annie gets a new outfit – enough of these pesky wee Corollines!

Annie is resplendent in a beautiful tunic by Patricia of 1000 et 1 Choses (1000 and 1 Things). This lovely pattern included stitching to give a smock effect, but I took fright and was worried I would ruin it, so I left it as it was.

This is a lovely pattern by Patricia and having finally found some 2.5 mm knitting needles I have realised that Patricia and I must knit to the same tension, as this is a very good fit for Annie.

The deep pink yarn is DROPS Baby Merino Extra Fine Wool (4 ply) shade 08 (magenta) and I am unsure of the contrast white yarn for the skirt as I have lost the label.

The skirt pattern I made up myself with contrast stripes to match the detail on the tunic.

It has been rewarding to knit for the larger dolls again and I think that this outfit is a winner and season appropriate!

As a final note, I was inspired by Laurence who made a beautiful job of styling her doll, Elena’s hair in a recent post on her blog, and I tried to do the same. Not my best work I fear, but I could try again one day …

Katie Wants to be a Ballerina – Doesn’t Every Little Girl?

24 Nov

Bonjours, mes amies!

Katie was jealous of the ‘big’ girls and their ballet tutus, so I had a go at making a scaled down version for her of Odile’s beautiful pattern – Tenue de Danseuse from the Passion Poupees site.

I started to make the top of the tutu based on my own pattern (Tutorial 3), but I found that the number of stitches didn’t quite work as I wanted to do the bodice in double crochet rather than treble. Several versions later (…sigh…) I was finally happy with the dress and I completed the tutu with a scaled down frill based on Odile’s pattern. I think the tutu has turned out very well – just like Odile’s wonderful original.

I had a go at making some ballet shoes to cover up her black permanent shoes, and I think they look ok. And a hair scrunchy to keep her bun neat.

Obviously Katie needed some pants to go under her tutu, so I tried to make some. I only had to rip these back once (… another sigh…) and I think they work very well under the tutu. I’m quite proud of these and I will definitely make them again.

The yarn is the same as Jeannie’s tutu, but a different colour, Wendy Peter Pan 4 ply shade 3002 (pink with a strand of glitter through it) and I used a size 3 mm crochet hook for everything.

Here are Jeannie and Annie all ready for their ballet class, and Katie gets to go too!

Don’t the three of them look adorable together? I love this pattern by Odile!

Phew!
