Welcome to Sylvie – She’s Wearing My Dress!

Bonjour, mes amies!

Here is my first new wee Mini Corolline – all lovely and clean after a bath. I washed her hair carefully and then very foolishly combed it while wet. She had a parting that meant that you could put her hair in bunches – but I have basically ruined this by brushing her hair. I have painstakingly tried to fix this (only partially successfully) – but I will learn from my mistake and never do that again!

I have decided to name her Sylvie and she is wearing the dress I adapted from my favourite pattern by Sylvie of PoupeesdeSyl. You can find my tutorial here.

I used 3.25 mm knitting needles and the yarn is Woolcraft Baby Care 4 ply shade 706 (Mint) and the contrast is Stylecraft Life 4 ply shade 2357 (Aqua).

I designed the shoes myself based on a pattern by Laurence for an Itty Bitty doll – I used a size 3 mm crochet hook and added an extra row of double crochet before the shaping.

Sylvie’s hair is very soft and shiny now and I am pleased that I washed it – I just wish I hadn’t brushed it!

I think Sylvie looks very cute and I love her blue, blue eyes.

Look What ‘Santa Hubby’ Brought Me! – Woo Hoo!

Bonjour, mes amies!

I know that Christmas was a long time ago, but here is what my lovely husband gave me for Xmas. I only had to drop the unsubtle hint of directing my husband to the relevant Ebay page!

I’m delighted because (in addition to my four 2012 Mini Corollines) I now have a blonde with brown eyes, a brunette with blue eyes, an Asian (or Red Indian or Peruvian – not sure which!) and a coloured doll with lovely curly hair. Now all I need is a little redhead and I will be happy!

They came all the way from France, and I have not shown you them before as they all need a little wash and I have to finalise my decisions about their names!

And let’s not forget that my husband also chose my Les Cheries, Carole, for me for my Xmas too.

Krissy in Pink and Black – Just Like Her Sister and Cousins

Bonjour, mes amies! Je reviens!

Here is Krissy finally getting her matching dress for her wee family.

I love making this half ‘n’ half dress – the main part is knitted, and the top and bottom frill are crocheted. It is based on an original design by Odile of Passion Poupees, but I have adapted it each time I have made it.

The yarn used is Stylecraft Life 4 ply in shade 2358 (Clover) and the black contrast is Patons 100% Cotton 4 ply shade 1712 (Black). And I used size 3 mm knitting needles and a size 3 mm crochet hook.

I’ve enjoyed making these little dresses and here are all four of my 2012 Mini Corollines in their matching outfits.

Left to right we have Kimberley, Krissy, Katie and Kara.

Pink and Purple – Krissy’s Winter Warmer

Bonjour, mes amies!

Here is Krissy in an absolutely adorable outfit by Odile at Passion Poupees. It’s been a while since I’ve made an outfit for one of my Mini Corollines, and it has been fun and fast.

This outfit was for a larger doll and I hoped that by using Odile’s recommended size of crochet hook it would turn out small enough for Krissy (I am a much tighter crocheter than Odile!). I was right and it is a very good fit. However, I did not enjoy using a size 2.5 mm hook – it was hard for me – I’m used to bigger hooks.

I did adjust the hat to make sure that it stayed turned up by making the last row have several stitches crocheted together.

The yarn is Stylecraft Life 4 ply in shade 2309 (Heather) and James C Brett Supreme Baby 4 ply shade SY3 (Lilac).

I love this outfit!! I hope you do too.

Viewers’ Versions – Tutorials 2 & 3

I am very proud to show you some more pictures that I have received of versions of my tutorial for Lindsay’s Dress for Corollines (tutorial 2). Based on Sylvie’s pattern for a Les Cheries doll. My tutorial can be found here.

Katie Gets a Dress to Match her Cousins – Cute in Lilac

Bonjour, mes amies!

Now it is Katie’s turn to receive another beautiful dress. This dress is based on Odile’s (at Passion Poupees) lovely pattern for the Mini Corollines which combines knitting and crocheting together.

I’m sure that Katie was jealous of Kara and Kimberley’s beautiful frocks and she wanted one too (no doubt my fourth little girl will get one soon too!)

This dress is knitted with size 3.00 mm knitting needles and I used a 3.00 mm hook. The yarn used is James C Brett Supreme Baby 4 ply in shade SY3 (pale lavender). The tiny bit of black contrast is Patons 100% cotton 4 ply in shade 1712 (black).

Each time I have made this dress I have used a different edging, based on one of Odile’s other patterns. Katie’s dress uses an edging adapted from her Viveca en bleu dress.

Here they all are together in their matching dresses.

Kimberley in Pink and Purple – With a Loopy Edging

Bonjour, mes amies!

Here is Kimberley in her lovely new dress.

This is a gorgeous pattern by Odile of Passion Poupees which was destined for her Ann Estelle doll. This pattern requires absolutely no adaptation at all to fit my Mini Corollines. I even used the same size crochet hook as Odile – size 3.00 mm.

The yarn used for this lovely wee dress is Patons Diploma Gold 4 ply in shade 4294 (newberry) and shade 4246 (plum). I must admit I loved working with this yarn and if I could find a cheap supplier of it I would probably buy a ball of every shade available. It crochets up beautifully.

I love how Odile keeps coming up with different cute little edgings and frills for her dresses. Her imagination and talent are boundless. Watch this space – I am in the midst of two other outfits by her at the moment.

But this is Kimberley’s moment. Do you like her little winter dress?

Kimberley Gets a New Dress – and a Matching Hat!

Bonjour, mes amies!

Here is a very cute wee dress and hat with a lovely frilly edge. Naturally it is by Odile of Passion Poupees, and the tutorial was just published a couple of days ago – I couldn’t resist it.

I love Kimberley’s black, black hair and so many colours seem to suit her.

The yarn is Patons Soft Baby Fab 4 ply in shade 189 (sunset print) and I used a size 3.00 mm crochet hook. I added one extra row for length as I tend to crochet tighter than Odile.

Doesn’t Kimberley look adorable in this outfit?

She’s Here! – Welcome to Kimberley …

Bonjour, mes amies!

Well, if you were paying attention you may have guessed that there was to be a new arrival very soon chez Elena-Jane.

And here she is. I collected her in Edinburgh today and I tried to get some photos of her in Edinburgh, but the light was in front of us, so they are not very clear … sorry.

Kimberley is Kara’s sister, so I now have two sets of twins.

Kimberley has brown skin and BLACK hair – I love her.

Here is Kimberley wearing the little dress that Kara was so curious about yesterday. I based this on Odile’s pattern at Passion Poupees again, but I made the crochet borders slightly differently.

The yarn I used was James C Brett Supreme Baby 4 ply in shade SY6 (pink) and the black is Patons 100% Cotton 4 ply in shade 1712.

I love making clothes for these Mini Corollines. Thank you to everyone who keeps posting tutorials for clothes for them.

Pink With an Accent of Black – Kara’s New Dress

Bonjour, mes amies!

Here is a sweet little dress by Odile of Passion Poupees which combines knitting and crochet. I have made it in similar colours to the version that Odile posted on her blog and I think this colour combination is very sophisticated.

I used a size 3 crochet hook and knitting needles and the peach yarn is Woolcraft Babycare 4 ply in shade 722 (pale peach). The black is Patons 100% cotton 4 ply in shade 1712 (black).

Kara is happy to get a new dress as she missed out yesterday when the wee sisters got their new dresses.

Kara is curious to see that there seems to be another new dress on the way, but she is not allowed to wear it. I wonder who it is for?
