Katie Gets a Dress to Match her Cousins – Cute in Lilac

17 Dec

Bonjour, mes amies!

Now it is Katie’s turn to receive another beautiful dress. This dress is based on Odile’s (at Passion Poupees) lovely pattern for the Mini Corollines which combines knitting and crocheting together.

P1180370small

P1180373small

I’m sure that Katie was jealous of Kara and Kimberley’s beautiful frocks and she wanted one too (no doubt my fourth little girl will get one soon too!)

P1180381small

This dress is knitted with size 3.00 mm knitting needles and I used a 3.00 mm hook. The yarn used is James C Brett Supreme Baby 4 ply in shade SY3 (pale lavender). The tiny bit of black contrast is Patons 100% cotton 4 ply in shade 1712 (black).

P1180371small

Each time I have made this dress I have used a different edging, based on one of Odile’s other patterns. Katie’s dress uses an edging adapted from her Viveca en bleu dress.

Here they all are together in their matching dresses.

Three Cuties in a Row – the Corollines Have Matching Dresses

5 Dec

Bonjour, mes amies!

After too long away, here I am making what I enjoy the most – a wonderful outfit by Odile of Passion Poupees. So wonderful I made it three times!

Katie

P1180247small

These lovely dresses were designed especially for Mini Corollines and the only adaptation I had to do was to use a 3.5 mm hook instead of Odile’s recommended 3.0 mm hook.

P1180235small

The matching greens for Krissy and Kara are Rowan Siena 4 ply mercerised cotton in shades 00654 Pasture (mint green) and 00669 Celadan (darker green).

P1180242small

And Katie’s dress is Patons 100% cotton 4 ply in shades 1734 (candy pink) and 1742 (deep fuchsia). I did add an extra set of rows to this dress as I was worried it would be a wee bit short.

P1180238small

Don’t they all look adorable together?

P1180251small

I’m very tempted to make a FOURTH version of this dress – now why would I want to do that …?

Three Get Up to Mischief – You Can’t Sneak Up on Pussycats

30 Nov

Bonsoir, mes amies!

[It was snowing here and I couldn’t connect to my Internet – I was so unhappy … but it is all good now]

I have a tiny, little tale for you tonight.

Picture the scene – Arty and Holly are having a quiet snooze together on the stairs …

P1180158small

When some naughty little girls, up to no good, try to sneak up on them …

P1180168small

Closer … closer …

P1180162small

“Shhhh … she doesn’t know we’re here … ”

P1180163small

Uh oh – they’ve been spotted and Holly looks like she fancies some wool for her supper (she chews all my knitting – bad cat!)

P1180160small

On the other hand, Arty is a big lump – my daughters call him Blobby – and he doesn’t even raise an eyebrow!

~*~

By the way, the little girls are wearing the dress adapted from Nathalie’s wonderful pattern at Les Creas de Nathalie and I will be posting my tutorial for this wee dress in a few hours.

Katie Wants to be a Ballerina – Doesn’t Every Little Girl?

24 Nov

Bonjours, mes amies!

Katie was jealous of the ‘big’ girls and their ballet tutus, so I had a go at making a scaled down version for her of Odile’s beautiful pattern – Tenue de Danseuse from the Passion Poupees site.

I started to make the top of the tutu based on my own pattern (Tutorial 3), but I found that the number of stitches didn’t quite work as I wanted to do the bodice in double crochet rather than treble. Several versions later (…sigh…) I was finally happy with the dress and I completed the tutu with a scaled down frill based on Odile’s pattern. I think the tutu has turned out very well – just like Odile’s wonderful original.

I had a go at making some ballet shoes to cover up her black permanent shoes, and I think they look ok. And a hair scrunchy to keep her bun neat.

Obviously Katie needed some pants to go under her tutu, so I tried to make some. I only had to rip these back once (… another sigh…) and I think they work very well under the tutu. I’m quite proud of these and I will definitely make them again.

The yarn is the same as Jeannie’s tutu, but a different colour, Wendy Peter Pan 4 ply shade 3002 (pink with a strand of glitter through it) and I used a size 3 mm crochet hook for everything.

Here are Jeannie and Annie all ready for their ballet class, and Katie gets to go too!

Don’t the three of them look adorable together? I love this pattern by Odile!

Phew!

Krissy’s Cosy Cardigan – a Winter Warmer

23 Nov

Bonjour, mes amies!

So even although our friends in Australia are heading into their summer, Krissy’s dress from yesterday will not keep her cosy enough in our somewhat damp and miserable weather here in Scotland (and the rest of Europe).

Having previously made a dress from one of Laurence’s patterns (at crochetloisirs.canalblog.com) which I then made a matching cardigan for, I decided to do the same for Krissy.

The original gilet pattern is by Vanina at Les Cheries de Vaniline, and this pattern is designed for both Kidz n Cats dolls and Les Cheries. I, however, have adapted it even further for the Mini Corollines. (I have written down my instructions for the cardigan and, if Vanina is happy, I will send them to anyone who asks.)

I made a new wee cardigan for Krissy and I think you’ll agree that she will be warm enough now as the frosty weather is threatening to come.

I used Woolcraft Baby Care 4 ply in shade 700 (white), and for the edging I used Hayfield Baby Bonus 4 ply in shade 854 (Baby Blue). I used size 3 mm knitting needles.

Here are both little girls in their beautiful dresses by Laurence and their cardigans by Vaniline (both adapted in size by me for the Mini Corollines). Don’t they look cute?

Katie in Pinks – Cotton Candy

20 Nov

Bonjour, mes amies

Here is Katie in a very cute little outfit by (obviously) Odile of Passion Poupees. This pattern was originally for her Itty Bitty doll, Melissa, and I have adapted it for the size of a Mini Corolline. I love this outfit and am very happy with the way it has turned out.

It may be a bit summery for this season, but I just couldn’t resist giving it a try.

I used a size 3 mm crochet hook and 4 ply wool. I did adjust the number of stitches and rows a little, but it was a very easy conversion. The pale pink yarn is Rowan Siena 4 ply shade 655 (Aurora) and the mid pink is Patons 100% Cotton 4 ply in shade 1734 (Candy).

Katie is definitely ‘pretty in pink’.

Passez une bonne journée, à bientôt.

Trio of Cuties – Shades of Colour

19 Nov

Bonjour, mes amies

Well, as promised, now that I am home safe and sound from my caving trip to the Yorkshire Dales in England, here are my sweet wee dolls all dressed up in matching dresses. These dresses are based on Odile of Passion Poupees fabulous, simple pattern.  All were crocheted with a size 3 mm crochet hook and with yarn that equates to 4 ply.

~*~

Krissy

Krissy’s dress is perfect and the one I am most happy with (and it was my first – aren’t you supposed to improve as you practice?) I used Drops Fabel shade 330p (purples).

~*~

Katie

For some reason I managed to make Katie’s dress flare out a little too much for my taste, but at least you can see the beautiful shades of this variegated yarn. This yarn is Drops Delight in shade 06 (pinks).

~*~

Kara

With Kara’s dress the subtle changing shades of the yarn is not so obvious, which is disappointing. Again I used Drops Delight, with shade 08 (greens).

~*~

And finally here they all are together again.

Bonne journée, à bientôt …

Kara’s New Dress – Dreamy Yellow

14 Nov

Bonjour, mes amies!

Here is Kara’s first dress based on a pattern by me !! I have the English version of the tutorial ready to go, but am beavering away with Google Translate trying to finish the French version. I’ll get them posted as soon as possible.

Kara’s cute dress is a simple crocheted pattern, slightly unseasonal, but I’m sure she could pop on a cardigan if she gets cold.

I’ve used a size 3 mm crochet hook and the yarn is a new purchase of 4 ply baby wool by Woolcraft shade 702 (pale yellow). It fastens at the back with one button – I’m quite chuffed that I am managing to come up with a pattern by myself – even if it is very simple.

Kara’s cousins, Katie and Krissy, also have new dresses and I’m sure you’ll agree they look adorable together.

Katie’s dress has a contrast band at the top and bottom which is also Woolcraft 4 ply in shade 722 (pale peach). The body of her frock is a bargain end of dye lot purchase – Katia Baby Fantasie shade 6113. This is a very pretty, soft yarn and I’m sure I’ll make something else with it very soon.

Krissy’s very striking dress has a different collar which matches the series of eyelets near the hem. This yarn is Drops Fabel shade 105 (turquoise) – and is equivalent to 4 ply.

As a shout out to Margotte, who posted some gorgeous pictures yesterday of versions of my previous pattern, I took a picture of my girls with one of my cats – Holly. Poor Holly was fast asleep and I kept poking her to try and get her to look at the camera!
